According to the latest IPSOS Reid Poll; walking is the favourite physical activity for people living in Campbell River. There have been many recent initiatives in the community that support walking and walking environments. Active Campbell River recently distributed 1200 pedometers to community members throughout the city.

Pedometers are a great motivational tool and an interactive way to encourage walking and to increase physical activity. The simple goal to strive for is 10,000 steps a day. This will result in positive health benefits and the more steps, the more benefit to your health and wellbeing. Pedometers are available for sale at Strathcona Gardens for $5 each, while supplies last.

The ActNow BC Activity Challenge is a great place for you to log your steps and set goals to take enough steps to walk around Vancouver Island or across BC. The program is a great resource guide and motivator for walking programs. Information is available about where to buy pedometers and how to get started walking.
