30 Minutes of Walking a day is enough physical activity for positive health benefits. The 30 minutes need not be consecutive
There are endless choices for spectacular walking and running trails in Campbell River. Thirty minutes of moderate to brisk walking has been shown to have impacts on the health of individuals. Walking is also the most popular physical activity for Campbell River residents as concluded by the 2008 Ipsos Reid Poll. From the beautiful Seawalk path along 19A to the newly signed Beaver Lodge Lands, there are endless places to explore on foot.
Places to Walk
The Active Campbell River committee has been hard at work creating a flyer for places to walk in the region. There are 12 places to walk highlighted with a map and some basic access and route description in the Places to Walk in Campbell River flyer.
Greenways Land Trust
Greenways Land Trust is a conservation organization that works to enhance recreational and ecological greenways for people and wildlife. The volunteer organization is an excellent resource for trail walking, maps, volunteer opportunities, events and education. Find a map of the Beaver Lodge lands on the site.
Beaver Lodge Signage and Seawalk Interpretive Signs
The addition of signage and trail markers in the Beaver Lodge Lands and the interpretive signs along the Seawalk are current initiatives taking place now. Your walk will soon be more interactive and you may be more comfortable exploring the forest lands.

Pedometer Programs
Pedometers are an effective and fun way to record activity levels and to set goals for yourself to be more active. Pedometers are available for sale at Strathcona Gardens for $5 each, while supplies last.
Your goal with a pedometer is to take 10,000 steps a day. This will lead to positive health benefits.
Walking Challenge
The ActNow BC Activity Challenge is a great place for you to log your steps and set goals to take enough steps to walk around Vancouver Island or across BC. The program is a great resource guide and motivator for walking programs. Information is available about where to buy pedometers and how to get started walking.
