The Active Campbell River Committee was formed in February of 2006. It includes a diverse collection of representatives within the community including The City of Campbell River Parks, Recreation and Culture, Strathcona Regional District, School District 72, VIHA, North Island College, BC Cancer Agency, Success by 6 and various other organizations in the community.
In 2007, the Active Communities Committee hosted a strategic planning workshop attended by over 30 people from a wide diversity of sectors within the community. This lead to the development of the Active Campbell River Plan. The plan was a consensus-building process with positive interaction between partner institutions and lists specific actions deemed to be achievable from September 2007 to December 2008.
