| | I was very excited so see this opportunity for participation with the Olympic Torch relay. Our residents at Ironwood Place would be a great representative for this event as they come from many backgrounds in their lives as well as many areas around the world. They also have competed yearly in the Seniors Olympics which they take great pride in the competition as well as the practice they have before the competition. It would be wonderful if they were able to take part in this event for our community and to represent seniors of B.C. As aging seniors this will be the only opportunity they will have to be part of the Olympics. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you regarding our seniors as I know they will be the best cheerleaders for this chance of a lifetime event.
Thank you

| | I am a recording artist and live music performer. I have just recorded my debut album with guest appearances by Juno winners Sue Medley and Valdy. One of my songs is a perfect fit for the Torch Relay event. It is a song called "We Are The Flames"
It is a classic rock styled song with lots of energy.
Samples of this song and all my other music may be heard at my web site listed below.

| | Hello, my name is Melissa Macadam and I am a 13 year old, competitive gymnast at the Campbell River Gymnastics Club. As a competitive athlete, I know about the many long hours of training it takes to compete at a high level. I continue to train 20 hours per week, and I have been full time with the club for 11 years. Campbell River Gymnastics Club is a non-profit facility and is completely run by volunteers. Campbell River gymnastics has been, and continues to be the foundation of many high level athletes. Gymnastics is the foundation of all sports. To be chosen to represent Campbell River in this exciting event would be a great honour. If I was given this amazing opportunity, I would fulfill my obligations with great pride.
Sincerely,
Melissa Macadam |

| | Campbell River McDonald's are locally owned and operated by Jens and Mary Rolinski. We strive to give our customers the best experience possible on every one of their visits. Our business employees over 100 people in both full and part time positions. We offer our employees a full benefit package, flexible scheduling, "Platinum Card" which allows our employees discounts at various retailers, an extensive training program and lots of fun activities and meetings. We are proud to be strong community supporters through various sponsorships, including: school groups, sports teams and fundraising events for various charities. McDonald's is a major sponsor of the 2010 Olympics (I understand that the Torch relay does not fall under that sponsorship),however, I believe that there may be a way of partnering to help make this event a huge success for Campell River. We have access to Olympic branded materials (shirts, mugs, hats, etc) that may be of use as prizes or give aways and we are very willing and excited to be involved with this exciting event! |

| | Campbell River Minor Hockey Bantam AAA is a competitive rep team consisting of boys/girls ages 13 & 14. The existing players this season that have not moved up to the Midget level, brought home the Bantam Island Championship Banner to Campbell River last season. These boys/girls are respectful, motivated, first class athletes that represent Campbell River to no end. They all wear their Campbell River Tyee jersey's with pride, on and off the island, and would be honored to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay.

| | It was Driftwood Club members who worked arduously to save & protect the Sybil Andrews/Walter Morgan Property by forming the Sybil Andrews Heritage Society. This 'Property' became first on the CR Heritage list & the buildings & grounds will be restored in the near future as the home (for nearly 50 yrs) of the world famous Artist Sybil Andrews & her husband Walter Morgan.
In existence since Aug. 2001, The Driftwood Club continues to do 'works of art' for charitable groups to use at fund-raising events, to generally have fun & make use of a natural (art) resources in many creative ways. |

| | We are a group of women made up of breast cancer survivors and supporters who, through their non-profit society, work to raise breast cancer awareness. Our society is the Campbell River Dragonboat Society and our team is River Spirit. We support people who are living with this disease to live full and active lives through paddling and provide an emotional network of hope for each other, our friends, and our community. Our physical activity helps survivors maintain their health & provides a preventative factor for those who have not experienced breast cancer.
We have many opportunities to participate in community events, increasing awareness of breast cancer, and raising money for the cause. Our members participate in or support Relay for Life, Run for the Cure, Cops for Cancer, charity golf tournaments, and many other local events.
We are all proud to be members of the community & truly exemplify its spirit!

| | I am a member of a music group here called Inclusion and we have been meeting and making music together for approximately four years. We have ongoing partnerships with both The Campbell River and District Association for Community Living (reference: Geg Hill, executive director)and The City of Campbell River Department of Parks Recreation and Culture
(reference: Judy Ridgway, Charlie Cornfield))
The thing that makes the group somewhat unique, is that three of our six musicians have developmental disabilities. These individuals contribute to the overall sound in essential ways by adding the voices of the keyboard, the Q-chord, and an African hand drum. The group can also be seen, at our website www.musicforeveryone.ca
Our dream is to promote inclusion and create opportunities for community members of all ages to see, first-hand, the ability levels and performance competency that can be achieved by anyone with a desire and a goal. We wish to spread the message that while some people achieve goals more easily than others, most worthwhile goals can be reached with time, effort and perhaps someone who believes in you. We are more alike than different and folks facing different challenges belong not only in our communities but equally in our businesses, our activity groups and even in our circle of friends.
We would welcome an opportunity to perform an audition at your convenience. sincerely, John Hollywood

| | The Strathcona Triathlon Club is a Triathlon British Columbia (Tri-BC) affiliated multisport club based in Campbell River, BC. It was formed in 1996 with an initial membership of 8-9 enthusiastic people with a common interest in the sport of Triathlon. The club was run on a very informal basis with the emphasis on fun.
We are still going strong and continue to emphasize fun! The sport of Triathlon has been around for many years, but with its inclusion in the 2000 Summer Olympic Games, interest in the sport (and lifestyle) has grown tremendously. Likewise, our club has grown. As of the 2009 season we have 85 adult members and about 20 youth members - a huge growth factor since the club started in 1996. In 2007, Richard and Laurel Cronk formed a youth division within the club and called it The Rapids. This enthusiastic group is open to kids from grade 6 to 12 and has over 20 kids enrolled.

The 'Elderly Young' have been playing together for two years, and play a combination of their own songs and what some might describe as 'Classic Rock'. They have played several gigs, including the Campbell River Lodge, Canada Day, Sound Advice, Relay for Life, school assemblies, as well as dozens of times at the Sunday market at the Campbell River Pier. Please refer to the attached link for a YouTube clip of the Elderly Young where they are performing one of their own songs at The Tidemark Theatre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RCt6QxL95w |

Our daughters learn to exercise their talents and develop new ones. We help our daughters generate self-confidence while contributing to a team effort. The girls make new and lasting life long friendships and excel in an environment without the pressures of teenage life. Our twice monthly meetings are organized and run completely by the girls themselves with the guidance of our adult council members. Most importantly our girls have fun while learning about the importance of community service. |

In doing so we provide an opportunity for improved physical health and welfare. The growth of lacrosse also provides opportunities for younger players as well as adults to become mentors through coaching and refereeing. We train all of our coaches and referees within a provincial standard. Our association strives to provide competition at the provincial level as well as individuals at a national level. |

| | Andersens Art International is an arts company, who specialize in jewellery, greeting cards, originals in oil and acrylic and also a management/agent organization who will be entering many artists in the artists registry for the 2010 Games. I have chosen a group of singers and visual artists who will hopefully be taking the stage at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. I plan on doing a show for the Games in the Athletes Village using U2's stage. With a rear projector I could possibly do a smaller venue for Campbell River for the November 2nd date with local talent. Please contact me I would like to be a part of the organization and the show. Are there fire works? I would like a practice round at them in November. Fireworks off of the stage, a rear projector putting Canadian Art on the screens. Local artist from the Islands Winter scenes and abstracts and then singers. Please get me involved and then perhaps quickly we can take those who are interested straight to the games. If you could get hold of me ASAP that would be great. |

| | Re: Offer to assist with any celebrations planned for Campbell River’s participation in the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.
Dear Mayor and Council,
The Salvation Army is participating in “Olympic Torch Relay” festivities across the country in many Canadian communities. The local Corps of TSA would like to offer assistance with celebrations our City may have planned for November 2, 2010 as the Olympic Torch passes through our community.
Following are some ideas for how we may participate.
• Organize a brass quartet, or other musicians, to play for the torch bearer and spectators.
• Offer refreshments ( cold & hot) along the relay route from a Community Crisis Response Unit. (a Salvation Army mobile canteen)
• Other services as may be suggested.
Please advise if there are other ways we may help.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely yours,
|

This would be a great opportunity for the Francophone people of all age group to be part of the relay by wearing our traditional costumes usings our flags association and maybe, playing some music instruments.
We would also be interested to be part of the organization in respect to the multicultural diversity. |
